This is a room in constant motion, where visitors move around via moving walkways. A conveyor system transports objects above their heads but all they can see to begin with are sketchy outlines. It is only when the objects pass through the interactive scanner stations that they can be seen properly. With the aid of a gesture-controlled system, visitors can x-ray the objects and access information films about them. The objects symbolise innovations, products
and processes created by German companies and institutions to tackle the issues connected with the EXPO theme of “Better City, Better Life”. Pioneering key technologies, such as organic photovoltaics, offshore wind energy and emission-free mobility, are featured.
A further area of the factory presents innovative material developments from Germany, which visitors are invited to “grasp”. Organic materials (poplar fluff and artificial spider’s silk, for example) and high tech products such as pollutant-neutralising roof tiles and fabric-reinforced concrete are on display for guests to touch, feel and smell.
