Urban Periphery

The visitors’ path slowly climbs, leading to a ramp. Here, aerial shots of special and typical German urban structures are set in the floor. Exhibits in display cases and interactive exhibit posts provide deeper insight. Particularly sustainable facilities and recreational spaces for Germany’s urban populations will be on show. The examples selected illustrate how modern German cities can develop in an ecological and sustainable manner. The Brandis/Waldpolenz solar park, for instance, one of the world’s largest solar plants, underlines Germany’s pioneering
role as a producer of renewable energies. And the Black Forest symbolises the perfect balance between local recreation opportunities, close to the city, and sustainable forest management.
